here it is

my first print here, my first print using a steel plate. the process is the same, essentially, just with acid that is extremely corrosive (as opposed to being sort of corrosive.) it is a lot less expensive. the image is a sketch of what i saw out of these windows:

oh! what a beautiful lab! there are six presses, all different. one is from 1830 and has more excess, flashy metal decoration than anything i have ever seen. it is topped with an eagle, life sized, clutching a spooling ribbon and plaque stating: "yeah! print some pictures, fools!" {sic}
that little chair and desk is my studio. apparently i am allowed to work on the gunky floor too...

flocks of prep school kids...

this is the top floor of our historic mckintosh building. there are six of these little desks for private study time. out of the windows you see this:
some of my fellow international students also enjoyed the view. you can see turbines in the distance, windpower fields.

  1. you're breaking my hear...but in a good way. I'm so excited for you! We had our first sculpture class of the semester today. It is going to be a good one. We were sent out into the world to explore interacting with space/objects/architecture using our bodies. Justin, Nichole, Kris, Estee and myself went wandering together. I wound up climbing on things and being squeezed through small spots because everyone else was too large. Oh, and I set off an emergency alarm at the top of the courthouse near school!

  2. oh no! derek, don't be heart broken! it sounds like you are doing well, anyways. i was walking with a friend last night who was hypothisizing an alphabet machine- i lamented about how if you had been there real, amazing next steps would have erupted!!
